Publications

In 2024, Multicultural Veterinary Medical Association (MCVMA) Board Members Melody Martínez, CVT, Mari Sato Quicksall, DVM CVA, and Sohaila Jafarian, DVM, MPH, were contributing authors to the first publications on DEI in veterinary medicine. These publications, titled “Elsevier’s Veterinary Clinics: Small Animal Practice – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Veterinary Medicine” Parts 1 and 2, were edited by MCVMA founding Board Member and Past President, Christina V. Tran, DVM. The series features 20 papers and editorials by leading experts in DEI within the veterinary profession.

To ensure continued accessibility of this vital information and these authors’ contributions, MCVMA purchased permanent open access to both series in 2025 making each article free to read to the public. This initiative was made possible by a generous grant from Maddie’s Fund®, “#ThanksToMaddie.”
